Diablo 3 Video - [S4] DH Tier 70 solo (14:09) [by wudijo]

Season 4 Demon Hunter GR 70 Solo
Finally closed Tier 70 after one full afternoon of unsucessful tries. I did it offstream as I just wanted to experiment a little before heading to university, and this one ended up getting me the rank. I tried quite a couple of different things before going back to more conventional builds and this setup turned out pretty well. Compared to my previous runs I switched out my Calamity for a Helltrapper, rolled off the weapon damage and kept both vitality and life on hit for increased tankiness, letting me drop Leech in favor of Ambush. Like this some of my Fulminator procs will be weaker (as my Strafe rune still deals lightning damage scaling off both weapons), but the majority is coming from RoV anyway (mainhand only).

The advantage of the Helltrapper is that you will spawn Caltrops to help proc the slow, which usually is a big issue especially on the huge pulls that DHs are trying to make this season. It also adds a little bit of damage with the Sentries especially on single target, and Spike Traps help to reset your RoV cooldown slightly faster. Like this, you can sometimes do a 2:1 instead of a 3:1 rotation if you have many (40+) targets, especially when you switch Evasive Fire to Bola Shot - Thunderball (only recommended if you have a Helltrapper with a damage roll).

I will probably not focus on pushing too much in the next couple of days - I rather want to work on some other projects and some videos I still want to make. With how overpowered conduit pylons are this season, I could definitely push 71 and 72 if I put in enough keys (in one of my tries I managed to make ~50% progress with a conduit alone). I rather spend spend my time farming a couple more paragons and keys and slowly start preparing for pushing 73-75 at the end of the season already.

For anyone asking, I currently expect Standard and Leonine UE Multishot to clear around 1-2 tiers lower than Natalya.

(proleague spoiler)
Hi,

If you didn't see the 1st series between Jin Air and CJ, you can find the games here. Below are the builds from games 3,6 and 7. I didn't add any other type of analysis so taking the time to understand how the players reacted to the actions of their opponent in each game before jumping in a ladder game is probably the right thing to do.

Diablo 3 Video - Some gameplay video of the Static Charge + Fists of Fury combination making the Monk news recently. (GR66 solo non-seasons) by Davlok

Those crazy Chinese monks put together a pretty unique concept of Static Charge + Fists of Fury that certainly seems interesting for both Solo & Group play. I took it for a spin this evening with a 4pc Inna variation so I could force density (and did not have a good EotS) so here it is:

Good RNG on density + pylons and an RG took forever because I had no elemental damage and no Bane of the Stricken in non-seasons. Basically just group as many mobs as possible to be able to tag them with SC and then spread FoF's DoT as much as possible. Very density-based damage output.

Diablo 3 Guide - An in-depth guide on how Vyr's Amazing Arcana wizards work [by Raz9r]

Foreword

This is a guide for greater rift gameplay for Archon wizards using the reworked Vyr's Amazing Arcana set. I consider this guide to be for advanced players.

If you have not read my in-depth guide on Bane of the Stricken yet, I highly suggest doing so before reading this guide.

This guide will explain the Archon wizard and its mechanics in detail and will hopefully clear up some of the partially false rumors I have seen spreading on the forums.

Archon wizards have little gear choice, so here is what you need.

Itemization

The mandatory items
  • Vyr's Amazing Arcana (6 pieces)
    • Stack gain rate is limited to 3 stacks per cast and only works with the Archon Strike and Disintegration Wave abilities
    • You still gain 1 stack per kill, which is not limited at all
  • Chantodo's Resolve (2 pieces)
    • Your main damage dealer of up to 7,000% weapon damage per second
    • Stack gain is limited to 1 stack per attack, so even with capped attack speed at 5 attacks per second you still need at least 4 seconds to get to 20 stacks
  • Ancient Parthan Defenders
    • Freezes count as stuns, so this offers isane survivability with Halo of Arlyse
  • Fazula's Improbable Chain
  • Halo of Arlyse
  • Jewelry Slot in Kanai's Cube: Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac
  • Armor Slot in Kanai's Cube: The Swami
    • Stacks can overlap into Archon form and are additive with normal Archon stacks
  • Weapon Slot in Kanai's Cube: Aether Walker
    • Also works in Archon form, where Teleport then does have no cooldown or Arcane Power cost at all
The optional items
Legendary Gems
  • Bane of the Stricken
    • Helps you against the boss and works very well with high sheet attack speed, especially when snapshotting the internal cooldown to a lower value using a potion
  • Bane of the Trapped
    • Best damage gem in the game, since it is in its own damage buff category
    • Enemies get slowed by the Archon Slow Time ability when inside of Archon and by the slowing aura of the gem when outside of Archon
  • Pain Enhancer
    • Highest damage proc off all legendary gems, considering most wizard skills have bad proc coefficients
    • The additional attack speed helps with Archon stack gain before you are capped at 5.0 attacks per second
Stat priority
To see the stat priority on the items, check out the build on d3planner.com.

I prefer Attack Speed over Cooldown Reduction or Damage Increase on weapons because attack speed on weapons is multiplicative with attack speed on gear and thus allows you to get more value out of Archon stacks and Pain Enhancer, but you are goig to reach the cap of 5.0 attacks per second faster with this.
Paragon priority
  • Core: Intelligence
  • Offense: Cooldown Reduction > Critical Hit Damage > Critical Hit Chance > Attack Speed
  • Defense: Life > Armor > Resistance to All Elements > Life per Second
  • Utility: Life Per Hit > Area Damage > Ressource Cost Reduction > Gold Find
Yes, you actually do not need any movement speed. Because why walk when you have teleport without cooldown?

Skills

  • Active Skills
    • Arcane Torrent - Static Discharge
      • Spender for Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac with an internal attack speed scalar of 3.0 for faster reset of Archon cooldown
      • Has the best proc coefficient of all usable channeling spells, so 4 Arcane Power on Critical Hit is enough
      • The delay on the bullet allows you to gain 1-2 more Chantodo's Resolve stacks after you enter Archon
    • Spectral Blade - Flame Blades
      • Insane temporary fire elemental damage increase
      • Scales well with your attacks per second
    • Archon
      • You gain all runes from the Vyr's Amazing Arcana set
      • Obviously used in an Archon based build
    • Frost Nova - Deep Freeze
      • Halo of Arlyse uses the Frost Nova rune on your bar, so this is permanent 10% Critical Hit Chance
      • Do not ever use this skill yourself, since doing so will lower the amount of Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac procs going towards the Archon cooldown
    • Teleport - Safe Passage
      • Provides 25% damage reduction when outside of Archon
      • Insane mobility without cooldown because of Aether Walker (also works when in Archon)
    • Ice Armor - Crystallize
      • Ice Armor is needed for Halo of Arlyse
      • Crystallize rune provides 60% armor, which is a needed defensive boost
  • Passive Skills
    • Blur
      • Extra damage reduction, needed so you do not die
    • Evocation
      • 20% free cooldown reduction which are definitely needed in a cooldown-based build
    • Unstable Anomaly
      • Dying sets you back quite a bit, so this cheat death helps you not to
    • Audacity
      • Audacity is one of the strongest damage buffs in the game, because it is in its own buff category and thus multiplicative with every other buff

Gameplay and Mechanics

The rest of this guide is done in my usual Q&A style, which should hopefully make this guide easier to follow.
What does the set even do?
I suggest you to read the item descriptions.
What does the gameplay look like?
If you want to see high-level wizard gameplay, I highly suggest checking out Quin69's GR70 clear.
Archon gameplay consists of six phases. After phase 6, go back to phase 3. If you die (which is basically game over), go back to phase 1.
  1. Build up 20 Chantodo's Resolve stacks
  2. Enter Archon form and try to get as many stacks as possible
  3. Reset Archon cooldown using Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac
  4. Build up the remainder of the 20 Chantodo's Resolve stacks using Flame Blades
  5. Enter Archon form with still overlapping stacks from The Swami, this is where your damage is the highest (since you have overlapping stacks and for part of this phase also the Flame Blades stacks)
  6. Remaining time in Archon without overlapping stacks from The Swami is spent trying to group up mobs while still trying to damage them, may also be spent for going to the next group of mobs
What exactly does one Archon stack give me?
Every Archon stack is equal to 1% to all resistances, 1% to armor, 1% to attack speed and 6% damage in the DIBS category (Damage Increase By Skill).
What is the DIBS category?
Damage buffs in Diablo III are sorted into categories. Buffs in the same category are additive with each other, while the sums of all categories get multiplied with each other.

Archon being in DIBS is bad, because most damage buffs are in the DIBS category. This makes Archon wizards benefit less from group buffs or certain skills, since they diminish in value. It also makes power pylons have almost no effect for Archon wizards.
When do I use either Arcane Strike or Disintegration Wave in Archon
Arcane Strike freezes enemies, which makes enemies resistant to crowd control even faster. There is no value in using Ancient Parthan Defenders if all enemies around you are resistant to crowd control, so you should use Disintegration Wave when enemies are not yet crowd control resistant.

If you intend to ramp up Bane of the Stricken stacks, you should use Arcane Strike, since it hits more often (and also does slightly more damage most of the time, depending on the attack speed breakpoint you hit).

When using the Disintegration Wave ability, make sure to describe a cone with the beam that as many monsters as possible within one attack cycle. Since Disintegration Wave is a channeling ability, you can animation cancel it with a non-channeling ability like Teleport to move around without wasting any attack cycles you could have gained archon stacks in. This is not possible when using Arcane Strike, since it is not considered a channeling spell.
What about the other Archon abilities?
You enable Slow Time once you enter Archon form and you use Arcane Blast as often as possible. I highly suggest numlocking the latter.

Teleport is used for mobility, survivability and gathering mobs. It can also be used to skip bad maps completely when used in conjunction with Aether Walker, which makes you need less Greater Rift keys when fishing for the perfect rift.
Why do you suggest using Aether Walker over The Furnace or other items?
  • Fishing for the perfect rift: More mobility means you need less rift keys
  • Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac procs are not being wasted on Teleport when outside of Archon
  • Being able to constantly teleport around allows you to control what mobs get resistant to your freezes and reposition yourself better and more frequently to adjust to their crowd control resistance
Crowd control resistances? What is that?
As explained by Wyatt Cheng in this post:
When monsters are CC'ed, they get 10% CC resist for every second they are CC'ed. If you CC them for 2.5 seconds, they gain 25% CC resist.
Prior to 2.3.0, this capped out at 65%, so if a monster had been CC'ed for 8 seconds, it would still only apply 65% of it's CC resist. As for 2.3.0, this now caps at 95%. In other words, monsters can reduce the effectiveness of your CC abilities to 5% of their full duration IF they had already been CC'ed for 9.5 seconds or more prior to that.
This CC resist naturally decays at a rate of 5% per second while the monster is NOT CC'ed and free to act.
Note 1: soft" CC's such as movement speed slows are not affected by, nor do they effect, this CC resist in any way.
Note 2: When CC resist was initially implemented it decayed by 10%. This was changed to 5% in Reaper of Souls Note 3: We experimented with a 20% minimum during PTR but did not like it, so that change did NOT go live.
This means that your survivability is based on your constant repositioning and that you will have to gather new mobs all the time using teleport, because you will at all times want mobs around you that are not resistant to crowd control yet.
What is animation cancelling channeling abilities?
Wizards channeling abilities can be cancelled by some spells, so you can effectively cast two spells in the same attack speed cycle.

This can be abused so you can gain Archon stacks while teleporting and using Disintegration Wave at the same time.

In an alternate version of this build where you swap Frost Nova for Blizzard - Snowbound, you can spam Blizzard while channeling Arcane Torrent to animation cancel it so you get two Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac procs in only one attack cycle.
What do I do with each pylon?
  • Channeling
    • Allows you to recover from death more easily by resetting Archons cooldown
    • Allows you to get more Flame Blades stacks
  • Conduit
    • Gather density, take conduit, kill stuff
  • Power
    • More damage, but value diminishes the more Archon stacks you have
    • Best to take in phase 6, because you will then have the most uptime on it when you have no overlap
  • Shield
    • Very good in phase 1-5, when you are the squishiest
    • Good to kill mobs that are fully resistant to crowd control
  • Speed
    • Movement speed effect is basically useless, because you ever only move using the teleport skill
    • Knockup effect counts as crowd control, and thus makes mobs become resistant to crowd control faster
    • Only take when fighting bosses, because the knockup hits count as hits for Bane of the Stricken
    Got any more questions?

Diablo 3 Guide - Building up density \ "The ABC Method" [by Pestdrache]

We all want to kill as many enemies as possible as quickly as possible for obvious reasons: more enemies hit by our abilities simply mutiplies the damage of that ability. But still I see a lot of players, even with high to very high paragon levels, fail at the very basics of building up density in a rift, be it in Solo, Speed or Push group play. Stopping and killing every pack of enemies instantly when we encounter it is almost never the best way to go about our slaughtering business. You should rather employ something that I call "The ABC Method", not because I am thinking I invented this by any means, but because a catchy name might help some of you remember this better ;)

For the ones of you that like a video explanation, here is the youtube link: https://youtu.be/n2-nEaXTrvY

For everyone else that prefers a written explanation over my unbearable german accent, here we go:

When you encounter a new pack of enemies, imagine them being at point A, then run past them and let them follow you. The next pack, that should be very close, is now at point B, this is most likely the location we are going to fight in. Before that though we want to also add the next pack of enemies, in this example now at point C on our way. We do this either with a ranged ability or by quickly dashing there and back again. In group play this is mostly done by the supports, while the damage dealers already start to mow down the enemies from A and B, and then repositioning to also hit everything coming in from C.

For the ones that want a visual example, here is the link to the picture I use for my explanations in the video: http://imgur.com/Tpyep5k

This method is even more effective when fighting at intersections on the map, as you can see in the MSPaint masterpiece you just had the ultimate pleasure to witness. On these intersections you can drag in enemies from all around you and then finish them off in a single GLORIOUS... merciful ending of their lives.

If you have problems employing this method, i.e. not enough packs close to each other, you are in a very bad rift with extremely low density, where you don't want to spend your precious gaming time to begin with and should just run through to find the exit. OR you are in a very good rift, meaning all the enemies are already in one place, with small free spaces in between them. For these a simple rule of thumb: you don't want to be even starting to hit less than TEN enemies, if they are not consisting of very good progress giving types, i.e. Grotesques or even bigger guys like Unburied or Colossal Golgors. Some of these might follow you too slowly when trying to pull them, what could make stopping to kill them off alone necessary and worthwile, if you can do it quick enough. If you kill a handful of Ghouls, Fallen or Zombies though, it will never be worth your time. Obviously there are classes that can employ this method easier than others, considering their tankyness or lacking defensive abilities when completely surrounded. Know your limits, find safe spots like corners or bottlenecks, where only a few enemies can reach you after clumping them up and be especially careful in HC. I don't want your virtual blood on my hands.

I am mostly fairly active on the WD reddit, that being my main class, but I thought this to be a topic worth knowing for everyone. I always try to be equally as informative while doing solo tries (currently top 10), 4man (currently top 50) or just some relaxing speeds, so maybe check me out on twitch.tv./pestdrache if you liked this.

TL;DR: Don't kill everything you come across. Run past some stuff, stop at the next stuff, even get the stuff behind that to join in. Then kill all the stuffs --> http://imgur.com/xQQG4GT

Diablo 3 - How to Archon \ Season 4 (Patch 2.3) Wizard Guide [Fevir]

Looking at the Archon build in season 4 of Diablo 3. Probably the strongest wizard build available this season.

HEY! QUICK NOTES:
This is my first time doing a Diablo 3 guide type video. I assumed since the game has been out so long I didn't have to hand hold and read tooltips out loud. I would love input from people who are in the Diablo 3 community and have looked at other guides for potential advice on future guides. Thanks!

It's a very item dependent build- to the point where it's not even worth using the build until you've collected it all.

Archon Wizard build details:

Archon Skills:
Blizzard - Snowbound
Ice Armor - Crystallize
Archon - Pure Power
Magic Weapon - Deflection
Teleport - Wormhole
Frost Nova - Deep Freeze

Diablo 3 - Kanai's Cube - FAQ by gvandale

I see a lot of questions popping up about Kanai's Cube since its release, so I am hoping to be able to put together a list of common questions, along with helpful information regarding the cube.
  • What is Kanai's Cube? Kanai's Cube was introduced in Patch 2.3, and is the spiritual successor to Diablo 2's Horadric Cube.
  • What can the cube do? All sorts of stuff, from extracting legendary powers to upgrading rares into legendaries. I will get into the specifics of each recipe later, but for now just realize that the cube is a powerful tool.
  • Does the cube take up stash space? No, the cube is now part of the town center along with the other artisans (blacksmith, jeweler, etc.).
  • Where do I find the Cube? The cube is in a new area of Act 3. In order to obtain the item you must make your way through the first floor of the "Ruins of Sescheron", and finally get to the second zone called the "Elder Sanctum". In this second zone you will find the "Tomb of King Kanai", at which point a small scripted event takes place and you will have the cube and its artisan unlocked in town.
  • The cube is available to both Season and Non-Season players.
  • While it has not been confirmed how the transition will occur at the end of Season 4, it is reasonably safe to assume that the stored cube powers will be handled much in the same way that artisan levels/plans are - once the season ends it automatically rolls over to your non-season gear.
edit: It has been confirmed that the extracted powers will roll over to non-season as other artisans's are. source
  • When putting in a stack of items, the cube is smart enough to only use what it needs. If a recipe calls for (5) Death's Breath, and you place a stack of (50), you will have (45) back in your inventory when you complete the recipe.
  • Kanai's Cube is not available to PS3 and XBox360 console users.

Extracting Legendary Powers - an in-depth look.

  • So the first recipe everyone loves about the cube is the "Archive of Tal Rasha". This recipe allows you to extract a legendary power from an item, in turn destroying the item itself. In order to do this, you must have (1) of each of the new Legendary Crafting Mats (each act gives a new material in their bounty cache's, (1) Legendary item with a Legendary Affix you wish to remove, and (5) Death's Breath.
  • You are allowed to have an active Weapon Slot, Armor Slot, and Jewelry Slot. Weapons include all items that are equipped in your hands (weapons, off-hands, and shields). Armor includes all armor, so you can choose one item from Helmet, Shoulders, Gloves, Pants, Boots, Belt, Chest, and Bracers. Jewelry includes Amulets and Rings, so you must choose between a 3rd ring or 2nd amulet essentially.
  • Note that this only applies to legendaries, and you cannot extract a set item in lieu of equipping said item. Example: you cannot extract Zuni's Pants in the hopes that you would no longer have to equip them to get the set bonus. For further clarification, set items that have legendary affixes such as Krelm's Belt can have their legendary affix extracted...but you cannot gain the benefit of the set. So if you use the belt's power in the cube, and equip the bracers, you do not get the set bonus.
  • Now, lets say you want to extract the legendary power from The Furnace which is "Increases Damage Against Elites by 40-50%". The first thing to know is that no matter the value of the item you put in, the power extracted will always be at its max. So if your Furnace only rolled 40% elite damage, the ability will extract at 50%. Ok, so as stated above, place your Furnace, (1) each of the legendary act specific mats, and (5) deaths breaths in the cube and hit "Transmute". You will get a warning that you are about to destroy your item, that's ok - hit "OK".
  • Now that the Furnace's power has been extracted, you need to "equip" it. Within the cube GUI, click the icon marked with a sword (you can see it here). This opens up a book of all the available items you can extract, so rifle through the pages and select The Furnace. Once you have, the image of the sword you clicked on will now show the image of The Furnace. If you want to verify that a specific power is activated, you can open up the details screen in your inventory and scroll to the bottom - it will now show any active attributes coming from Kanai's Cube.
  • There are some items that cannot have their legendary power extracted such as The Corrupted Ashbringer, The Hellfire Amulet, and Ancestors Grace.
  • Also of note, you cannot utilize two of the same power. In the example of The Furnace, if you have one equipped on your character, and select The Furnace in your cube, you will not get 2x bonus.
  • Extracted powers work from any legendary item at any level. So if you find a Starmetal Kukri at level 45, it is no longer useless. Save it, and you can extract that very awesome power once you have the cube and the mats.
  • Extracting the Ring of Royal Grandeur is the same as wearing one (again you can't wear one and have one in the cube). This opens up great gearing options for the 2x ring slots you now have.
  • Extracted powers are only available to characters that could normally utilize the original item. A barbarian could not use a power from a monk daibo.
  • Lastly, once you have extracted a power it is now available to all characters you have. If your WD extracted The Furnace in the above example, your Monk could equip that passive as well.

Reforging Legendary Items

  • The next recipe is called "The Law of Kulle", it allows you to reroll the stats on a legendary item - with the added bonus that the reroll can result in an Ancient Legendary. The odds to reroll Ancient are 1/10.
  • The "Law of Kulle" recipe is (1) legendary item, (5) each legendary act crafting material, and (50) forgotten souls.
  • Place all of the items in your cube, hit transmute, and you will get a "new" version of the item you had in there.
  • Keep in mind that if you use a Ramaladni's Gift on an item, then use this recipe, the socket you gifted is now gone.
  • This recipe merely rerolls the item, it does not upgrade it. Meaning that you cannot expect to reroll a lower level legendary to get a level 70 version.
  • Rerolling a legendary is "smart", in that if you have a Strength In-Geom and reroll it on a Witch Doctor, it will roll with Intelligence. thanks /u/rcuhljr

Upgrade Rare Item

  • This is the second best thing about the cube in my opinion. This recipe allows you to take a rare item, and turn it into a legendary (with a 1/10 chance of it being an Ancient Legendary).
  • The "Hope of Cain" recipe is (1) level 70 rare item, (25) Death's Breath, (50) each normal crafting material (reusable parts, arcane dusts, veiled crystal).
  • Place all of the above items in your cube, hit transmute, and watch that rare transform into a legendary!
  • Great uses for this are on weapons, jewelry, and Templar relics. Early in Season 4 I was able to turn a bunch of Rare Ceremonial Knives I had picked up off the ground into an Ancient Dagger of Darts (I equipped this), and also a Starmetal Kukri (I extracted this power). I was also able to craft a bunch of Templar relics and then upgrade them, finally getting the "cannot die" relic I wanted.
  • The rare item that goes into the cube can be purchased from a vendor, found in monster loot, or crafted at the blacksmith.

Converting a Set Item

  • We have all had this issue - you have 5/6 of a set and the drops you get keep giving you gloves and not the damn item you NEED. The "Skill of Nilfur" recipe allows you to take a set item and convert it to a different item from that set. Keep getting Zuni's gloves and not boots? Use this recipe to convert that glove into another item from the set. Note This only works on sets of 3 or more pieces, and cannot produce an Ancient Set item.
  • The recipe is (1) Set Item, (10) Death's Breath, and (10) Forgotten Souls. Place these in your cube, hit transmute, and pray that the RNGod's are smiling upon you.
  • Example of how this works: You need Zunimassa's Boots, and you have an extra pair of Zunimassa's gloves. Place the extra set of gloves, along with (10) each Death's Breath and Forgotten Souls into the cube, hit transmute. If you get the boots, GREAT, if not just load another (10) materials and transmute again.

Removing Level Requirement

  • While not that great for softcore players, this could be a great benefit to Hardcore players. The "Work of Cathan" recipe allows you to remove the level requirement of any gear item by transmuting (1) item of any type, and (1) rank 25 or higher Gem of Ease.
  • This will consume the Gem of Ease.

Converting Gem Types

  • Running out of Topaz's? You can now cube all those useless Rubies using the "Darkness of Radament" recipe. This recipe is capped at 9 gems per "roll", and requires a Gem Essence (sold by Squirt in A2).
  • The recipe is (9) Gems of the same type/quality, and (1) Gem Essence (of the type of gem you want). Hit transmute and voila, you have a new stack of gems.
  • An example: You have 1000 Imperial Amethyst's, but really need more Emeralds. Go to Act 2 and purchase the Emerald Gem Essence from Squirt. Throw in your cube the amethysts, and the essence - hit transmute and receive your Imperial Emeralds.
  • Gem Essence costs 500,000 gold.

Converting Crafting Materials

  • Similar to the gem conversion, this one really helps with collecting specific materials. I know in previous seasons I could never have enough blue/white mats while I would be swimming in yellows. The "Anger of Iben Fahd" recipe now invalidates this issue.
  • The recipe is (100) crafting materials (either white, blue, or yellow), (1) item of the material quality you want to receive, and (1) Death's Breath.
  • An example: I need more Arcane Dusts (blue), and have a TON of Veiled Crystals (yellow). I would put (100) veiled crystals, (1) blue item (sword as an example), and (1) Death's Breath into the cube. Hit transmute and receive (100) Arcane Dust. note: the item you use in the cube can be crafted, purchased, or found while playing.

Two, Not-So-Secret, Secret Recipes

  • Portal to "Not the Cow Level". Simply put a Bovine Bardiche into the cube, hit transmute, and open a portal to the "Not the Cow Level".
You can only open one Cow Portal per game. If you see the portal open in town, you have to remake the game in order to get a new portal open. Trying the recipe when there is already a portal open will result in a "failed to transmute" message.
  • Portal to Greed's Realm Another simple recipe. Put a Puzzle Ring into the cube, hit transmute, and open a portal to "Greed's Realm".
You can only open one Greed's Realm Portal per game. If you see the portal open in town, you have to remake the game in order to get a new portal open. Trying the recipe when there is already a portal open will result in a "failed to transmute" message.

Act Specific Legendary Materials

  • Bounties have been changed a bit in patch 2.3. The major change is the rotating "bonus" act and how it effects material drops.
  • When you start a new game in adventure mode, you will notice on the map that one of the acts is now labeled "Bonus". If you complete all the bounties in this act, before any other act, you will receive a second "bonus" cache along with the standard cache. Once this is done, the bonus act randomly changes to a different act.
  • It is now beneficial to run all 5 acts in the sequence the game chooses the "bonus" acts to maximize the amount of materials you earn
  • The bonus cache can also drop a legendary item.
  • Blood Shards are no longer awarded for completing the individual bounty, rather they are only given in the bonus cache.
  • Horadric Caches will now contain two legendary/set crafting recipes. This is a great way to fill out your artisans quickly at the start of a season.
  • There are five act specific legendary crafting materials. These are required for legendary/set crafting at the blacksmith, as well as for many of the Kanai's Cube recipes.
Act 1 - Khanduran Rune
Act 2 - Caldeum Nightshade
Act 3 - Arreat War Tapestry
Act 4 - Corrupted Angel Flesh
Act 5 - Westmarch Holy Water
  • Here is a great chart showing all the Torment Scaling information for 2.3. Important to note the legendary crafting drop rates (doubled for bonus cache) are:
Normal-Master: 2 (4)
T1-T6: 3 (6)
T7-T10: 4 (8)

Diablo 3 - An in-depth guide to Bane of the Stricken by Raz9r

I decided to do this in a Q&A style. If you have anything to add or correct, post below.

What is a frame?
Diablo III servers run at a constant 60 frames per second (FPS), with a frame being the smallest step made in any calculation. This also is the reason attack speed breakpoints exist: Getting above certain attack speed thresholds reduces the frames per attack (FPA) needed.

What is a proc?
Proc is an abbreviation that refers to a weapon, item or ability activating on hit or on cast. Abilities in Diablo III have so-called proc coefficients, which describe the chance of a proc to occur. This has been introduced to balance item procs for abilities with a large area of effect.

What is an internal cooldown?
An internal cooldown (ICD) is the amount of frames that need to be between two procs of the same kind. For example, the ICD of Thunderfury is defined as (60 frames/second) / (attacks/second) (always round up). If you have an attack speed of 1.4 attacks per second (base attack speed of Thunderfury), the ICD of its proc is 43 frames. This means that once an attack procced Thunderfury, it cannot be procced again for 43 frames.
Some ICDs scale with APS, others don't.

How can I proc Bane of the Stricken?
Bane of the Stricken is independent of proc coefficients, but does not proc off skills with a proc coefficient of 0% (Damage over Time ticks, Pet attacks, Some other attacks like Sweeping Wind) or skills that do not deal damage. It always procs on the first target hit per cast.
For some reason, Bane of the Stricken can also be procced using the Bottomless Potion of Fear.

What is the ICD of Bane of the Stricken?
The ICD of Bane of the Stricken is just like the ICD of Thunderfury, which means it actually scales with your APS displayed on your character sheet. Please note that this does not include attack speed modifiers for skills or attack speed buffs that do not appear on your character sheet. This means that if you get non-sheet APS or use skills with an attack speed modifier that is greater than 1.0, your hits and the ICD may get out of sync.
The ICD on your Bane of the Stricken is snapshotted when you enter a zone, use a health potion, or revive.

How does the damage calculation of Bane of the Stricken work?
The base effect of the gem is multiplicative with other buffs but stacks additively with itself. There is no cap on this buff.
The secondary effect of the gem is multiplicative with other buffs.
Bane of the Stricken falls off when you switch zones.

How can I maximize the value I get out of Bane of the Stricken?
If your sheet APS scales dynamically (Archon/Pain Enhancer/Group Buffs), make sure to re-snapshot the ICD to a lower value when possible by using a potion. Sheet APS is maxed out at 5.0, so the lowest ICD you can get is 12 frames (= 0.2 seconds).
When using attacks where you can control what enemies you hit first, make sure to hit the target with the most health first.
