StarCraft - [Tutorial] Playing without ghosts in lategame TvZ by SLCN.Deth
Today, I'm reviewing one of my recent replays at a GM level whereby I
opt to skip ghosts in the lategame to rely on simcity, mines and
liberators to defend the onslaught of zerg units at hive tech, while
using speed banshees and drops to cripple the zerg economy and force
them into bad engagements. This game was played on the Korean server.

StarCraft - [TvZ] How to face Roach/Ravager ? Applying the sAviOr technique by ErrantKnight
In
the last few days we've seen certain Zergs (Solar) use pristine Roach
Ravager builds to max out extremely quickly and crush the Terran using
Corrosive Bile to force the Terran into constantly kiting.
There seem to be two main ways to respond to this:
In LotV, Terran has gained access to a new weapon of the apocalypse: siege mode tank drops: combining this with the medivac boost upgrade (which just makes it better) you can suddenly harass the attacking roach army while dodging the Corrosive Bile spots, weakening it and slowing it down sufficiently so that you can beat it down later on.
I for one have tried this and it works quite well, while I was losing to vastly superior armies I can now face them off with similar supply (180 vs 200 and part of the Zerg supply is back at home).
Try it out and see if it works for you.
SOURCE
There seem to be two main ways to respond to this:
- Firstly you can face the Zerg in (Glorious) battle and hope you have enough, maybe lay down some bunkers, try moving tanks around... The problem is that the Zerg's army is usually rather overwheling (we saw Solar be maxed against a 100-150 army TY) so the odds aren't in your favour, you are just playing to this army's strength.
- Secondly you can try counter-attacking (dropping usually) to try to force the Zerg to come back and defend. The problem is that all of the army dropping is missing from the defence so the Zerg can just crush what remains, deal critical damage (or even camp your production) and use roach reinforcements to defend (and even amass that number early since he sees your drop coming with overlords) or gain time against the counter attack. The Zerg can then just go back and defend while you have sustained a lot of damage.

Starcraft 2: A beginners guide by xlnqeniuz
I'm glad very glad to have you join this great subreddit. I'm going
to assume you have come here to try and learn the basics of Starcraft 2
after you saw all the hype floating around Starcraft 2: Legacy of the
Void.
In this post I'll try to help you get through the beginning steps of learning Starcraft 2.
Before you start a game, you can pick a race from the 3 that are available. You have Terran, the human race. Zerg, the weird creepy aliens and Protoss, the ancient wizards. You can also pick to play as random if you're up to the challenge, but I recommend sticking with one race for now.
The very basics of this game are actually pretty simple: Kill the enemies units. But there's a lot to do before you can even do that. The most important thing of Starcraft 2 is macro. This is what the game is all about. I'll tell you some more about macro later on in this post.
At the start of a game, you have exactly 12 workers, they are there to mine the blue crystals called 'Minerals' for you. With these minerals you will be able to build more workers, buildings and ofcourse units. For some structures or units you will also need Vespene gas. You can extract vespene gas from the cleverly named Vespene gas gysers. The only problem being is that you need a structure on-top of these gysers to extract the gas. You can build these structures with minerals.
This game has a supply cap. That means that you need to keep building supply structures or for the Zerg, units. At the beginning of the game you will need to build a supply unit/structure for you to be able to continue building workers and units. Try to keep building up supply so that you don't get supply blocked later on in the game. The maximum amount of supply you can have is 200.
Now that you know a little more about the basics, let's go into the deets of the 3 races we have in store for you.
Terran is the human race of this series. You will play with an army that has actualy humans in it with giganctic space suits.
Since I have a limited supply of text I can put here, I'd like to direct you to this a website that digs into the basics of the Terran race: Click (Warning: Could be a little oudated.)
I recommend reading this guide about the basics of Zerg: Click (Warning: Could be a little oudated.)
The basics of this race can be found here: Click (Warning, can be outdated)
Macro
Macro is basically the setting up, using and stabilizing your economy. From those 12 workers you get at the start you will be able to setup a great economy to make sure you get the money to build structures and army units. You want to make sure you have your game planned before the start of a game. The best way to do this for you newbies is to pick a build-order and sticking to it. With these build orders you will be able to efficiently macro. I recommend picking some from this site: Click! and Click here to learn how to read these build orders.
Build orders are mostly used in Multiplayer, as it might not be as good during the campaign.
Micro
While micro might not be as important as macro, it is still definitely something you need to know. As a new player it will be very hard to remember doing actions and doing them at a quick speed. That's alright, everyone on this subreddit had to learn it just like you.
Micromanagement is basically a term used to describe controlling your units. In this game you want to make sure you use your units abilities, position them right for engagements and use the units you have available as much as you can. Liquidpedia (our very own wikipedia) explains very well what you can do with your units in a game of Starcraft 2. You might not understand all of the terms used, but other then that micro should make a little more sense. Here's the guide: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Micro_(StarCraft)

In this post I'll try to help you get through the beginning steps of learning Starcraft 2.
The basics
Starcraft 2 is a very complicated game, it's very in-depth and has a steep learning curve. But please don't let that intimidate you from trying to understand everything. Before you start a game, you can pick a race from the 3 that are available. You have Terran, the human race. Terran
Nice job picking Terran, we already have something in common. (altough I was a dirty Protoss player back in the days.)Terran is the human race of this series. You will play with an army that has actualy humans in it with giganctic space suits.

Zerg
So you've picked Zerg huh? Good choice! You'll probably be having a lot of fun controling these sticky weirdos.I recommend reading this guide about the basics of Zerg: Click (Warning: Could be a little oudated.)
Protoss
Nice! You picked the race which LotV is all about. You'll be able to control the ancient and very cool Protoss. The basics of this race can be found here: Click (Warning, can be outdated)
Micro & Macro.
Alright, we've arrived at the core mechanics in this game. Micromanagement is the process of controlling your units during the game. Macromanagement is the mechanic of getting your economy up to speed and getting a good army.Macro

StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void Video - NYDUS WORM vs Terran! [LowkoTV]
The Nydus Worm in StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void became one of the most
powerful all-in tools Zerg has ever had. In the past, both Terran and
Protoss players were allowed to get away with very greedy gameplay.
However, in the new StarCraft 2 expansion this playstyle can be
countered by all-inning with a Nydus Network off of two bases.
In this Zerg versus Terran I quickly find out what strategy the Terran player is going for. After realising that my opponent was in fact going for a greedy third Command Center I put down the Nydus Worm and start saving up Queen energy for enough transfuse. The result is Queens and Roaches in the Terran player's main base, while he doesn't have even remotely enough units to hold on.

StarCraft 2 Guide - 3 great builds used by the Jin Air Green Wings players (one for each race) for you to end Hots with style [by Plokooon]
(proleague spoiler)
Hi,
If you didn't see the 1st series between Jin Air and CJ, you can find the games here. Below are the builds from games 3,6 and 7. I didn't add any other type of analysis so taking the time to understand how the players reacted to the actions of their opponent in each game before jumping in a ladder game is probably the right thing to do.
ByuL vs sOs set 3 on Coda - Gateway Poke + Oracle Pressure into fast 3rd
The Opening
RagnaroK vs Maru set 6 on Vaani Research Station - CC 1st into drilling claw wm drops
The Opening
herO vs Rogue set 7 on Echo - Fast 3 hatch into hydra bane/drop compo
The Opening
rollin droppin; They hatin
Once you are max on your hydra ling compo ( hydras, 100 lings) you can hold that morphing key for a while (you want something like 50 banes). You can now fill 8 overlords with banes for the big shower!! this is how it is supposed to look. You can now start to drop bane harass and remax with lings for a second wave.

In Legacy of the Void, the upcoming StarCraft II stand-alone expansion, you are Hierarch Artanis, leader of the mighty protoss race. Years ago, your homeworld of Aiur fell to the merciless zerg Swarm. Now, at long last, you have raised a powerful fleet of warships known as the Golden Armada, and are poised to reclaim your world. But an ancient evil—Amon—threatens this destiny and the fate of the entire galaxy. Only you can reunite the protoss factions and defeat the coming darkness before it consumes all life in the sector.
