Diablo 3 - [S5] Rank 1 World DH: Tier 90 Solo [Shi Mizu LoN] by wudijo

Got a sick upgrade on one of my rings and decided to go for 90. Also used all my materials (~30k of each) to craft 1h crossbows but couldn't get a Ballista with AD, so I'm still missing 44%. Got around 250 more paragons since my last push, you can start to feel that it takes a little longer to actually go up in tiers now. The clear took around 30 keys, or 1.5 hours.

Overall I'm pretty happy with my performane, just had a bad start and ending. Should have kited the first two pucks away much earlier, and I should have skipped the last blue because the illusionist yellow was screwing everything up (in the end I didn't even kill the pack I was working on for 5 min). And I screwed up the power pylon by missing Convention, I took it very closely to the end of the cycle to make sure I can kill the RG with it, but he moved away just a little bit too much and I missed Convention by maybe 0.05s (the 30sec are enough to get a 30 stack FoK on the last second of lightning, skip one cycle, and then do another 30 stack cast one on the first second of the next lightning after that). In fact the damage was a little higher than expected because the boss was still in Ambush range, he would have almost been oneshot. I shouldn't have tried to get 2x 30 and rather just go for 30 and 16 stacks, which would have easily killed the boss, too. Lesson learnt.

Fun Fact: I used 2x Awareness, equipped on the passives and on the Hellfire. Rip 20% toughness (Perfectionist), didn't even notice :o

Diablo 3 - Written Guide & Tips for Support WD in Season 5 (patch 2.4) by xskilling

Hi guys, this guide is mainly written in mind for entry-level support WDs or people who want to have a better understanding of support WD for S5/patch 2.4

Behind the guide, I've cleared GR100 in a 4man party earlier last week (which was at the time top100, now 250?~)

I play the game all manually, don't bot or use "google maps", my playtime is around ~220-230hr for the current season, averaging 5-6 hr per day, 1200~ paragon - it is definitely viable to reach a GR100 without excessive playing or botting as a support (even my wiz in the clear is only around 150 paragon higher than me)

I know that the /r/diablo subreddit hates the 3 support 1 DPS meta, but this build is pretty much viable for fun/non-meta groups as well

Diablofans build
D3planner current meta standard build
D3planner alternative high GR build

Support WD Role
  • damage amplifier, crowd controller
  • health globe picker/vaccuum machine
  • occasional map scout

Common mistakes/main tips
  • The reality of supp WD is that it is quite easy to play once you know what you are doing, but most people who just started would make mistakes that they wouldn't realize until someone tells them so

Tip 1 - Stutter stepping is a must if you are going to pick up health globes
  • what is stutter stepping? move and attack almost simultaneously to minimize animation downtime and utilizing certain aspects of the game like taeguk gem, hexing pants, globe pickup
  • how to stutter step for support WD? bind force move command to a key/mouse button (space bar for example), hold down right click (haunt), and press space bar (or whatever key) every 0.5 seconds or so
  • why do you need to stutter step? you need to trigger obsidian ring of the zodiac (orotz)'s proc while picking up health globes
  • without stutter stepping, you are doing a half-ass job of your role, which can lead to your own death, your party's death, not enough resource for the wizard spamming ET, or not enough cooldown reduction for your own spells
  • while i don't personally do this, advance users can set up a macro to trigger the force move command every 0.5 secs or so to minimize your fingers/wrists getting messed up/cramps (i don't cuz i don't play more than 2-3 hrs of GRs in one sitting and cuz macros lag my potato comp)

Tip 2 - Do not cast any of your dmg amp/crowd control spells until you reach a desirable pack/location to group up and kill/clear
  • this is probably the most common mistake outside of stutter stepping
  • the reason for holding off is that crowd control resistance stacks up very fast and if you cast a CC spell on a pack that you don't want to clear yet, it is a lot harder for the barb/monk to continue pulling that pack to an ideal location
  • the barb most likely would have to wait till the initial CC effect wears off before continuing to pull
  • casting haunt can also trigger your mimics (grin reaper) which then can cast piranhas/mass confusion - so don't do it even if u are tempted to do so!

Tip 3 - Don't mindlessly spam piranhas/hex/spiritwalk/massconfusion/bigbadvoodoo off cooldown while you are in the middle of clearing a pack
  • several reasons for this, the main one being you want to keep BBV at 100% uptime, which only works if u let zodiac ring prioritize it before other spells
  • the other one is excessive CC spam can make mobs resist pulling/knockback effects earlier than you expect, mobs that run away or teleport away are particularly hard to pull
piranhas
  • this is your only real mana spender, if u spam it, u can go below aquila buff threshold and not have your mana regen back in time and therefore, u can die
  • debuff lasts 8 seconds, so cast it accordingly
  • it may seem obvious but sometimes u move for an extended period that the helltooth dmg reduction wears off, and u can get one shotted!
hex
  • toad of hugeness is the main rune nowadays, u want to cast around 3 at the beginning to debuff everything quickly
  • cast it where u want the toad to pull towards, excessive density can cause the toad to spawn outside of your original cast point
  • after initial casts, u want to occasionally cast it depending on how many mobs are around, debuff lasts 5 seconds, so cast it accordingly
spirit walk
  • don't use it unless you need to dodge molten/exploading grotesque/excessive arcane sentry/electrified
  • if u die without it when there are no dangerous affixes/mobs, u or your party members may be doing something wrong
  • don't rely on spirit walk's immunity to keep you alive, positioning is more important to stay alive
mass confusion
  • debuff lasts 12 seconds, so cast accordingly
  • charm is a hard CC, which stacks up CC resistance faster, so don't go crazy spamming it on range/teleport mobs if u know u want to repull a lot
BBV
  • u want to keep 100% uptime, but refrain from recasting it when an elite is going to die very soon and you would most likely move to the next pack

Playstyle/order of events
1) spirit walk to keep up with teammates/search for an ideal pack to kill
2) wait for wiz/monk to settle down at a location for ET spam
3) cast your initial debuff/buff spells (BBV is the most important one), and start stutter step (spam haunt & pickup globes) - maximize survivability by standing inside inner sanctuary
4) when your ignore pain buff is reset, u can either go scout and aggro more mobs or stay in place to continue stutter step and recast debuffs
  • scout or not depends on the GR level, mobtype, your own survivability, and amount of globes that can be produced
  • i usually scout if its below GR97, anything above GR100 is highly dependent on mobtype (dangerous mobs like spears, chargers is a complete no go)
  • if your party relies on barb to produce globes, u should scout more (WD 70%- to barb 30+%), otherwise let the barb do most of the scouting (monk can produce enough globes) (barb 80%+ to WD 20%-)
5) if you choose to scout, ping or tell your barb to pull closer to your main pack (if you find anything worthy of pulling)
6) rinse and repeat

Additional info
D3planner alternative high GR build
  • i use xephirian for the cube cuz electrified mobs can be very dangerous above GR100, and the oculus's proc is so random that u don't really need it
  • cloud of insects is the main skill change for GR100+ for additional dmg reduction
  • string of ears is also a personal choice, if u think u need it

Diablo 3 - Crusader - LoN Pony Fastest Speed Farm Build by MeatHead Mikhail

Hey guys, today I show what I consider to be the fastest T10 speed farm build for a Crusader. This is essentially a Legacy of Nightmares Bombardment build but with an adjustment for the pony - using In-geom and Swiftmount instead of Mortal Drama, as the extra bombs are overkill for T10. Furthermore, on most maps you'll have long spans where your In-geom buff will drop off and perma-horse won't be possible, so having 4 seconds instead of 2 will mitigate that once you hit above 60% CDR. It has a moderate gear requirement - I'm still missing an ideal piece (Gloves of Worship), several rolls, and only using 10/13 ancients, but it still 1 shots everything. Enjoy & discuss!

Diablo 3 - Short and Sweet Guide to Season 5 by Garfm

Short and Sweet Guide to Season 5

This guide is intended to be a condensed version (for you last minute guys or the lazy readers) of everything you need to start the new season strong. Going over Pre-Season preparations, leveling 1-70, Gearing up, Augmenting, and my thoughts on the 4-man meta we will see early in the season. Like I said this is meant to be short if you are looking for a full super in depth guide I highly suggest checking out Drahque's Ultimate Guide

Pre-Season Preparations
Here are some things you will want to do before the season starts to make the first night smoother and save a bit of time.
  • Know what class you are going to play.
  • Know who you are going to play with.
  • Know what leveling strategy you are going to use.
  • Make a 1-70 cheatsheet or find someone elses. The cheatsheet should include every time you change skills. Listing the level you take the skill, and what key/skill it is replacing. You may also want to include an extra notes column for key objectives you want to do at certain levels.
Here is an example of my Demon Hunter cheatsheet

Leveling 1-70
1-70 and Pre-Season Preparation Video Guide
There are a handful of strategies you can use to level 1-70. I will be covering a strategy where you do a boss or cursed chest bounty early, clear Halls of Agony level 3 (HoA3), and move onto rifting. Other strategies include targeting only cursed chest bounties and repeating them, targeting high density floors such as HoA3 and repeating it, or full clearing bounties.
  • Level 1: Take your followers(Templar,Enchantress,Scoundrel) weapons. Clear a cursed chest or boss bounty. For resplendent chest or diabolic cache.
  • Levels 4-20: Clear Halls of Agony level 3 until you hit a dead end and then reset the game.
  • Level 7: Buy rings from Fence Merchants
  • Level 12: Buy amulets from Fence Merchants
  • Level 20: Kill Skeleton King in Campaign for Leoric's Crown drop. Make sure your entire party is at least lvl 20.
  • Level 23: Do an act bounty. It can be done before 23 but make sure you open the cache at lvl 23. If cain's or born's plan drop from the cache craft them.
  • Levels 23-70: Rifts! There is no reason to full clear since rifts are free to open so make sure to close the rift after killing the Rift Guardian. You should be on a difficulty where you 2-3 shot white mobs. If you are overkilling them raise the difficulty and if they take 5-6 shots lower the difficulty.
  • Level 45: Craft a level 60 weapon and look for reduced level requirement. It is easiest to re-roll for this stat if you KEEP a secondary Crowd Control and roll the other secondary to reduced level requirement.
  • Level 61: Craft a level 70 weapon and look for reduced level requirement. Use the same re-rolling strategy as above. This will take some deaths breaths to do so make sure you have a couple before trying to make the weapon.

Level 70 Gearing
Fast Gearing Video Guide
The fastest way to start farming is to pick up your free set from the season journey as fast as possible. You do not need to complete all of the chapters or even be on the chapter the objective is in just do these objectives.
  1. Hit level 70! (Impossible to forget to do, but it gives the first 2 set pieces).
  2. Kill Zoltun Kulle on Torment 2.
  3. Complete a Greater Rift tier 20 solo.
Each objective mails a Haedrig's gift to you and each gift gives 2 peices of the set. These can be saved for other characters but if you are trying to start farming as fast as possible open them on your first character as soon as you receive them to help complete the next objectives. Once you finished the three objectives turn the torment up to a comfortable farming difficulty. Even if this isn't the set you want to use, it will be the fastest way to start farming for the set and other gear you actually want.

Augmenting Items
Augmenting and Empowered Rifts Video Guide

How Augmenting Works
There is a new Kanai's Cube recipe that allows you to augment your gear this patch. This recipe takes 3 of the same max level regular gems(Emerald, Topaz, Ruby, or Amethyst), an ancient item, and a legendary gem of minimum rank 30 for weapons, 40 for jewelry or 50 for armor. Once transmuted the 4 gems are consumed and for each level of the legendary gem applies 5 stat of Dex, Int, Str, or Vit according to the regular gems used.

Strategy for Augmenting
This is a very strong recipe and means you will want to farm legendary gems. Here is the strategy I would recommend for farming these gems. You will need 12-13 initially depending on if you use an offhand or not. I recommend picking a gem you wont confuse with the ones you don't want to augment so get 12-13 of something like Gem of Ease. Just make sure the gem you pick does not have a cap. Then work on getting those 12-13 gems to around 50-60 and once you have ancient gear you are comfortable farming in, augment the gems into your gear. This gear will help you farm higher greater rifts and faster torment rifts/bounties through out the season. Now get a second set of gems (or a set for each class you intend to push with) then spend the season leveling up these gems as high as possible. Save any gear upgrades in your stash. You dont want to waste gems augmenting every small upgrade you find (This is up to your discretion of course if you find an upgrade you feel will improve your farming significantly augment it and start using it). Once its the last 1-2 weeks of the season this is when you will want to augment your pushing gear.

Empowered Rifts
Keep in mind we also have empowered rifts this season. You can pay gold to empower a greater rift giving you one extra chance to upgrade your gem if you pass the greater rift. So running a boon of the hoarder while farming torment to pay for empowered rifts may help squeeze in some extra gem levels.

Predictions for Early Season 4-Man Meta
Theorycrafting Early Season 4-Man Meta Video

Tier List of the Classes I think are most likely to be in the "Best" 4-Man meta

  • Top Tier: Barbarian
  • Mid Tier: Demon Hunter, Wizard, and Witch Doctor
  • Low Tier: Crusader
  • Bottom Tier: Monk

The Tier list is based on my early impression of what each class can bring to the group. Barbarians are still going to be great supports with Ignore Pain buff and the ability to Group up mobs just 2 of many reasons they are great supports. Demon Hunters offer the very high single target damage with the new Shadows set. Wizards offer very high AoE damage with Delseres and other new and updated items. Witch Doctors can provide high DPS and while bringing big damage buffs to the group. Crusader have damage and supporting options with invokers and rolands but they are slightly behind what other classes can bring to support and or deal damage. Same goes for monks they can still offer damage or support to the group but seems to be the lowest in comparision to other classes. However this season a lot of the sets have been brought up to par with eachother meaning for a while atleast we will see a lot of different group compositions that can do well including compositions that have monks and crusaders in them.

Here are a just a few of many 4-man compositions that I think will be competitive this season.
  1. Support Barb, Single Target DH, AoE Wizard, Hybrid WD
  2. Support Barb, Single Target DH, AoE Wizard, Hybrid Crusader
  3. Support Crusader, Single Target DH, AoE Wizard, Hybrid WD
  4. Support Barb, DPS WD, AoE Wizard, Support WD
Thanks for reading everyone and that is about as short as I could make the guide while still explaining important points. Less than half the length of the guide I made last season so for me it is short. Good luck in Season 5 everyone! ;)

Diablo 3 - Season 5 Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When does Season 5 start?

A: Season 5 will begin Friday, January 15 at 5:00 p.m. PDT in North America, 5:00 p.m. CEST in Europe, and 5:00 p.m. KST in Asia. For assistance with time zones, click here.

Q: How long will Season 5 last?

A: Starting with Season 5, all seasons going forward will last approximately three months.

Q: When are the non-Seasonal Leaderboards being wiped?

A: Non-Seasonal Leaderboards are tied to what we call “Eras.” We currently anticipate the next wipe to coincide with the end of Season 4, although this may not be the case for future Seasons.

Q: Will Seasons be coming to console?

A: Some features on console are best designed for that platform, and the same is true for the PC version of the game. A large part of the fun of Seasons is the entire community rerolling heroes together at the same time. Because the offline and disconnected nature of console does not support this style of play, we do not currently have plans to implement Seasons on console.

Q: What will happen to older Seasonal records?

A: As we continue on into additional Seasons, we will no longer be able to store some personal Seasonal records. While Season 5 will store your personal bests for all Seasons to date, at some point in a future Season, we will begin removing old personal bests, beginning with Season 1. This will be true regardless of your personal participation in previous Seasons. We will have more information on this change at a later date.

Seasonal Leaderboard records are not being cleared, and will remain archived both in game and on our website.

Diablo 3 - How to prepare for 2.4 by malendariel

I managed to try a few builds out on the PTR and figured I'd share some thoughts on how to prepare for 2.4 (no firm release date yet). As usual this mainly applies to people who will be playing non-seasonal. Note that there's no season-only items for 2.4. The only benefit of doing 2.4 will be to unlock stash tabs and some cosmetic items - they're pretty cool so I'll definitely be doing some season play, but not exclusively. For all the details check out the official patch notes.

1. Save up your crafting/bounty materials

You'll need lots of crafting mats if you want to create some shiny new items using Kanai's Cube. You'll also want to cube some of the new legendary powers. Do some bounties and store the mats, you'll need quite a few. Also save up some Ramaladni's Gifts so you can stick sockets on your new weapons.

2. Save these sets

The below sets, with the exception of Istvan's Paired Blades, are pretty useless at the moment, but will be seeing a substantial buff in 2.4. The Legacy of Nightmares ring set will be quite interesting, but I don't think they'll be able to balance the power across all the classes. Start saving them if you have them.
  • Legacy of Nightmares ring set (Litany of the Undaunted and The Wailing Host)
  • Endless Walk ring/amulet set (The Compass Rose and The Traveler's Pledge)
  • Istvan's Paired Blades (Little Rogue and The Slanderer)
  • Thorns of the Invoker set (Crusader only)

3. Prepare to replace these items

You might have beautifully rolled ancient versions of the below items. Unfortunately most of them will no longer be BIS (best in slot). Newly dropped versions of these items have substantially more powerful stats on them. Don't save unidentified versions of these - the stats will only appear on ones that drop after 2.4 goes live. If you save up lots of bounty crafting mats then you can use them to reroll these items and they'll get the new stats on them (and it might be ancient if you're lucky).

Barbarian
  • Dread iron (+150-200% Avalanche damage)
Crusader
  • Blade of prophecy (+75-100% Condemn damage)
  • Drakon's Lesson (Shield Bash damage bonus increased from 150-200% to 300-400%)
  • Frydehr's Wrath (+150-200% Condemn damage)
  • Golden Flense (+150-200% Sweep Attack damage)
  • Jace's Hammer of Vigilance (guaranteed primary attribute)
  • Jekangbord (+150-200% Blessed Shield damage)
  • Unrelenting Phalanx (+45-60% Phalanx damage)
Demon Hunter
  • Bombardier's Rucksack (+75-100% Sentry damage)
  • Dead Man's Legacy (+75-100% Multishot damage)
  • Hellrack (guaranteed primary attribute)
  • K'mar Tenclip (+75-100% Strafe damage)
  • Valla's Bequest (+75-100% Strafe damage)
  • Wojahnni Assaulter (guaranteed primary attribute)
Monk
  • Gyana Na Kashu (+75-100% Lashing Tail Kick damage)
  • Tzo Krin's Gaze (Wave of Light bonus damage increased from 20-25% to 125-150%)
  • Vengeful Wind (Number of Sweeping Wind stacks increased from 3 to 6-7)
  • Inna's Reach (Bonus Mystic Ally damage increased from 20-25% to 75-100%)
Wizard
  • Triumvirate (Arcane Orb damage bonus increased from 75-100% to 150-200%)

4. Clean up your stash

There are an incredible amount of new items landing in 2.4 - clean out your stash and your mules. Be rutheless!

5. Level up some gems

There will be a new Kanai's Cube recipe which consumes a legendary gem (and some other mats) in order to add some stats to an ancient item. You can determine the stat based on what other gems you include in the cube - Ruby for Str, Topaz for Int, Emerald for Dex, and Amethyst for Vit. The amount of the stat that gets added depends on the level of the legendary gem you use in the recipe. For example if you added some Emeralds and a level 40 gem, you will be able to add 200 Dex to an item. If you used a level 80 gem you will be able to add 400 dex to an item. You can only buff ancient items. If you find an item with better stats, you'll need to farm another gem and buff the upgraded item. Because of this you'll need a lot of extra gems - you might as well get a head start on leveling them now. If you need extra gems to drop, take them all out of your stash and put them on another character. Then when you complete a greater rift you'll start getting additional gems dropping again. Level these up as high as you can so you have a bunch of them ready for 2.4.

6. Farm some gold

In 2.4 you'll be able to "empower" a greater rift. In order to do this you'll need to spend some gold. The amount depends on the level of the greater rift you're doing. If you complete the greater rift on time, you'll get 4 gem upgrade chances instead of the usual 3.

7. Save up some Bovine Bardiches and Puzzle Rings

Empowered rifts will need a lot of gold. Put together a gold find set to make the most of your puzzle rings. The new action combat feature provides some pretty hefty XP bonuses. The Bovine Bardiche can be put in the cube and it will open a special cow level. Aside from netting you a heft amount of legendaries and XP pools, the density for these levels is extremely high. On the PTR I got about half a paragon level (granted only level 975) by earning a huge massacre bonus on this level.

8. Misc notes

  • Monks will need to focus on Physical Resist even more for their gear, as most rift guardians and other mobs have had their elements moved to Physical. The Mara's Kaleidoscope amulet will not be quite as good in 2.4.
  • String of ears looks like it is getting changed retrospectively. This doesn't happen very often, but usually when it does the range gets rerolled again. This means if you have one with 30% (range being 25%-30%) then when the patch lands and it gets changed to a power instead of a secondary roll, it might not end up as the max value in the range. It looks like this belt will be dropped to 20%-25% (the patch notes are confusing for this).
